Dear Xeni:
Hi. I am a blogger inhabiting in Taiwan. I am glad to visit your website about
the SARS art project, but I noticed that there was no works from the artists
in Taiwan. therefore i would like to share my works. I created a series of comics
concerning on the issues about SARS, in those works, I combined two hottest
issues in Taiwan, one is SARS, and the other one is a popular TV show - The
Taiwan Thunder Fire.

Liu the Beast often revenge to his foes with giving them one bottle of oil and one match, that means he would like to burn them to death. After the SARS spreading in Taiwan. the goverment in Tawian planed to participate the World Health Organization in oder to obtain the international help. This plan was spoiled by the People Republic of China goverment, the PRC considers that Taiwan is a province but not a independent country because of the historical context. The work velow shows that the PRC forbids the minister of health of the Taiwan goverment Chien Jen Zen to present in the WHO, just like giving people in Taiwan 'one bottle of oil and one match' and burn them to death, like Liu that Beast did. The final picture shows that Liu the Beast want to compain to the author of this work , yea, that is me, he complains that How can the author let PRC simulate him. the author answers that there are many guys are even tougher then Liu the Beast.

The final work below shows the end of Liu in the TV show - Taiwan Thunder Fire. The playwright once announced that he will let Liu kill his self with a grenade, because one day he find his self has commited too many crimes and that brought misfortune to his lover. However, there is another bad guy Lin becomes a volunteer to fight with SARS in the hospitals after his repentance. Liu thinks that he can be a volunteer too but not necessary to kill his self, then he gives the playwright one bottle of oil and one match.

Those works were originally posted in my own personal weblog - zonble's @rsenal (http://zonble.twbbs.org). I hope that those works may help the SARS art project.
Sincerely,
Weichung Yang
